March is National Nutrition Month
According to the  Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, March has been established as National Nutrition Month, promoting the theme of “Best Fork Forward.”
This theme is meant to remind us that making just small shifts in our food and lifestyle choices, can add up over time.

According to their website, “The 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans suggest starting with small changes in order to make healthier lasting changes you can enjoy. This year’s theme for National Nutrition Month® inspires us to start with small changes in our eating habits – one forkful at a time. So whether you are planning meals to prepare at home or making selections when eating out, Put Your Best Fork Forward to help find your healthy eating style.

Here are some things to think about this month (and beyond):
  • Form an eating style that includes a variety of your favorite, healthful foods. Variety can be as important as healthy. If you think of eating healthy as a chore, it will be one. But if you think of eating healthy as savoring natural foods that are as delicious as they are nutritious, meal planning and eating will  satisfying to your mind as well as your body.
  • Experiment with cooking more at home with healthier ingredients. We have a selection of recipes both on our website and as handouts at the office.
  • Remember that how much you eat is not as important as what you eat. Eat and drink the right amount for you.
  • Find activities that you enjoy and be physically active most days of the week.
  • Manage your symptoms or lower your health risks by consulting a nutritionist. ELFP uses Nutrition Response Testing to uncover hidden health stressors that are interfering with your ability to be your healthiest, including food intolerances, toxicity, immune challenges and others.

East Liverpool Family Practice is here to be your partner in nutrition. Please contact us with any questions or to make an appointment for a Nutrition Response Testing Evaluation to see if you are a candidate for this system of clinical nutrition. 330-386-1111
